Provision cloud infrastructure for RADAR K8s deployment

Hello, Radar warriors,

I have this Radar K8s IoC template approaching its first GA release. If your org holds an AWS account and wants your Radar deployment to be cloud native while keeping your budget in check, feel free to give it a go. A few opinionated tooling choices have been grouped into the config folder and made optional.

Running the entire Radar cluster on your local machine may not always be extremely painless so hope this template can mitigate the challenge of resource provisioning or at least draw some attention to this field by combining the efforts of like-minded. Let us know what you think and any feedback or PRs are greatly appreciated.

Thanks Xi! It would be great if you could also list the AWS resources that will be used in this process and provide a price estimate for a basic installation.

Hi, @K1Hyve By grepping the output of the terraform plan for running a minimum cluster and also grouping the AWS resources by name prefixes, I got the following: aws_iam, aws_ec2, aws_security_group, aws_eks, aws_eks_node_group, aws_internet_gateway, aws_nat_gateway, aws_vpc, aws_subnet, aws_default_network_acl, aws_default_route_table, aws_launch_template and aws_kms. Optional resources, subject to users' tooling preference, are: aws_eip, aws_route53, aws_ses, _aws_msk_cluster, aws_db_instance, aws_s3, aws_vpc_endpoint, aws_cloudwatch and aws_sqs. Ofc. advanced users may prefer replacing one or two with their existing (non-)AWS services but this template aims to set up infra out of the box and ready for Radar K8s deployment.

The pricing varies between services, regions, AZs and may also fluctuate (such as with SPOT instances). Besides, data transfer cost depends on user-specific scenarios and workloads. Each user/org can estimate the cost by factoring in these variables and also continuously monitor the cost breakdown post-deployment. Non-free resources created through this template are tagged so it is not difficult to get cost summaries based on cost allocation tags.
