Context

We hit our limit for papertrail, which is at 50MB—we are projected to hit 168MB this month. We can petition for a better plan, or even spend the $84 per year, but the logs will be more useful if they are less crammed with stuff to ignore anyway.

Requirements

  • reach out to papertrail asking them to give us the 1GB plan for free
  • attempt to reduce repetitive information
    • tests (fig 1): can we have a shorter, simpler, "5 tests ran successfully" for the happy path? Of course, if things go wrong, we may want more detailed logs, so it's important not to destroy that
    • archives (fig 2): can we reduce the space taken up with something like "100 sources archived successfully" or otherwise truncate
