Expose metrics

Hello,

This piece of software is very important and we need to have metrics in order to monitor it's state.

• event was not able to be sent (after x retries)
• queue size / max size

The best would be to provide a guide on how to monitor the daemon.

@NargiT: would it be acceptable to either expose these metrics in a Prometheus format [e.g. this service exposes an API with those metrics] or export them in an OTLP format?

If we added metrics support to this service it would likely be using OpenTelemetry...
