Hello,
apt purge pdagent does not remove pdagent.service from the system. conf files is missing /etc/systemd/system/pdagent.service
apt purge pdagent
/etc/systemd/system/pdagent.service
nor all folders and files files under /var/log/pdagent /var/lib/pdagent /var/db/pdagent
/var/log/pdagent
/var/lib/pdagent
/var/db/pdagent
edit: Feb 2024 everything under /var/run/ is removed after a host reboot, thus pdagent is not allowed to recreate /var/run/pdagent when restarting.
we believe this should be included inside the script
ExecStartPre=-/bin/mkdir -p /var/run/pdagent ExecStartPre=/bin/chown -R pdagent:pdagent /var/run/pdagent
