Hello!

Is there any way i can contribute in extending the dictionary?

I am using a spellchecker based on https://github.com/wooorm/dictionaries that gets seems to get it's resources for the dutch language from this repository. While using this i notice quite often that pretty basic Dutch words are not present in the dictionary (in nl.dic).

For example words like :

  • prijs
  • hierbij
  • risico
  • bij
  • zijn
  • omschrijving

I looked on the website https://www.opentaal.org but weren't able to find much up-to-date info there. There is a page to report suggestions (https://www.opentaal.org/suggesties) but unfortunatelly i was unable to use it.

I would love to contribute, but am unsure what the best way is to do so.
Any reply would be much appreciated!

Thanks for your message. These words are in there but with ij (one character) for ij (two characters). The checker supports ij (two characters). This is done to distinguish for the few words where ij is not an y grec, e.g. bijouterie.

Contrbitions can be made via https://github.com/OpenTaal/opentaal-wordlist/issues or https://github.com/OpenTaal/opentaal-hunspell/issues

Our website is indeed old and will be replaced soon.

If the spelling checker you are using isn't supporting prijs you should contact them. Probably the have made some changes to our files. Perhaps good to diff the .dic and .aff to see if there are any changes and if so which.
