I would like to try render a seamap of my own and run into compile problems on CentOS

What is your environment for the renderer? Could you write a short description of your current setup?

My build & running environment is MacOSX. As this is a BSD-Unix derivative, there may be library differences to your environment (I believe CentOS is a SystemV-Unix derivative?)
The rendering work flow I have set up is:

  1. Extract all objects with a "seamark:type" key from the area of interest.
  2. Run searender for each of the zoom layers.
  3. Cut PNG tiles from the resulting SVG files using the Apache Batik transcoder. (I used to use Inkscape, but this is slower)

@powermik please see the recent changes in master (PR #5). This should now compile on CentOS as well.
