with launch of our expanded community moderation tools, we'll need to set a clear guideline on what products belong on OpenHunt.co, and make sure all the moderators know what the community is looking for.

Obviously this is going to be an ongoing discussion throughout the life of Open Hunt, but it just needs something simple and clear to kick things off

Potential solution #64

I haven't thought deeply about this but I wanted to break the ice on this discussion (and my own commenting on this project). The basics could be:

  • New tech product (hardware or software).
  • Recently and substantially updated tech product.

Things that I see on PH that I think are worth discussing as to whether we would like to encourage them here are "Email newsletters", "Y Combinators Holiday Shopping Recommendations", etc.

I think the question is whether we want submissions that are actual technology or is just being technology related good enough?

I could see going the actual technology route as being a nice differentiator from PH.

I agree on actual technology route.

We should write up a draft for this. I think it's blocking adding new moderators because we don't have clear guidelines yet on what they should be moderating.

@wuliwong want to take a stab at it? thanks!

@jacquescrocker Sure, things are going to be a little slow until after New Year's, I have to use my non-family time for my "real" job until then. :)

Do post up a draft, even if it's on a napkin, so we can chip in and build on it together. 👍
