I would dislike line numbers in the template, but probably can't justify this very well. I treat pre-prints as author-produced finished products, and take care of typesetting them prettily. Line numbers may be useful for copy-editing, but I don't feel they are necessary for comments on content. And they would make the preprint look like a galley proof: an unfinished product. Of course as authors we'd welcome feedback on pre-prints, but the more valuable comments are unlikely to refer to a line of text only.
Anybody have an opinion on including line numbers in the preprint template? Would make providing comments/feedback on a preprint a little easier.
