Description of the issue

When determining similarity among scenarios, it is essential to consider the users' perspectives and preferences. A collection of scenarios may exhibit similarities or dissimilarities depending on various aspects. For example, If we focus on energy carriers such as solar power, wind power, nuclear power, natural gas, and coal, we can compare them from different perspectives:

  • Renewability
    • Solar power and wind power are both renewable. Nuclear power, natural gas, and coal are non-renewable.
  • Cost-effectiveness
    • Solar power, wind power, natural gas, and coal are often considered moderately cost-effective (although some factors such as financing options, location, and technological advancements might influence the overall cost-effectiveness), while nuclear power is generally considered highly cost-effective.
  • Environmental friendliness
    • Solar power and wind power are highly environmentally friendly. Nuclear power and coal are generally considered low to moderate in environmental friendliness. Natural gas is moderately environmentally friendly.
  • Conversion Efficiency
    • Generally, how well each one converts depends on the technology used.

There are also other aspects, such as Storage efficiency. In this case, we should consider the capacity (small or grid-scale), the energy source that is stored (electricity, compressed air, ...)

The comparison also depends on what energy carriers we are looking at; When we compare natural gas, coal, and wind power: natural gas is more environmentally friendly compared to coal as it emits fewer greenhouse gases. However, it is still a fossil fuel and contributes to carbon emissions. Therefore, natural gas is less environmentally friendly when compared to wind power.

We can also define a degree of similarity or dissimilarity. We can have them in OEKG like:
Solar power has similarity with wind power, and the similarity has the aspect of renewability, and the degree of similarity is high.

Overall, I suggest providing an interactive comparison tool for exploring the aspects of similarities or dissimilarities.
