gpSP game progress reset after update. #1755
Comments
I am facing the same issue on a new install of 4.4.0 beta on a new SD card. It seems not only gpSP is affected, also Gambatte (GBC) seems to be unable to create save files. |
@SnoJo1 can you take a snapshot and attach it here please @manuquadrat I quickly tested Gambatte, and I have no issues saving - feel free to create a new issue and attach more details |
I also created a snapshot for gpSP. What I did before creating the snapshot:
Both have the savestate via the game switcher available, but no save file if I reset the game. I re-packed the snapshot as .zip, since GitHub does not allow .7z files. The SD card is a fresh install of Onion 4.4.0 beta via the Onion Desktop Tools, only ROMs and previous saves were copied after flashing the SD card. |
@Aemiii91 Here's the log: |
I'm seeing a similar issue with Snes9x. I tried to play A Link to the Past and created an in-game save. I could back out to the main menu of the game and go back into the save. But when I closed the game, no in-game save file was actually created. Opening the game back up without save states brings me to a screen with no existing save to continue. The auto save state created by the game switcher works however. Onion OS version: 4.4.0-37449678 |
This seems to be affecting all RetroArch cores. When exiting via the game switcher or quitting a game in the RetroArch menu, it should do a SaveRAM. For some reason it is not. If you set SaveRAM Autosave interval to any setting other than off, then perform an in-game save and wait for that interval, the game save is written to the SD card and can be loaded the next time you launch the ROM. Edit: Tested with new saves and imported save files. Core will load the imported save file but will not save to it if SaveRAM is set to off. Edit 2: I guess not all cores are affected, SNES on Supafaust seems to be saving. This was an imported save from MinUI, not a new save Edit 3: It seems to only fail to SaveRAM if exiting a game via the game switcher, if you quit a game from the RetroArch menu, the save file is updated properly. I guess the game switcher is not exiting RetroArch cleanly. |

Provide a clear and concise description of the issue
I have been playing Pokémon Leaf Green for a while using the gpSp emulator in the expert menu using the latest stable version. I updated to the beta 4.4.0. I am aware that the new default is gpSP. After the update, I expected to be able to continue where I left off when selecting the game in either the main games menu or in the expert menu. Instead, the game restarted from the beginning. I have tried searching for the save file but I only found the new save file that was created when I tried to continue the game.
