Install problem macOS 10.15.6

I followed the instructions for install and no ~/.log.io/ folder is being created along with no configuration file to update.

@jscongdon You have to create that directory with the command given.

the command given does not create the directory.
In order to save ~/.log.io/server.json the directory ~/.log.io/ has to be there first. Since it was not explicitly specified to create that directory first it was assumed that there was an error.
The same with ~/.log.io/inputs/file.json
I'm not sure why the installer doesn't create those directories with sample configs, if they are needed
