To support API operation during outages of the external database or OP service, we will create an implementation that detects and handles these situations.

Before development can begin, requirements need to be defined that describe:

  • what is the criteria for concluding an external service is unavailable
  • how will service re-availability be determined
  • what is the API behavior during an outage
