Couldn't motionplus install on Ubuntu 20.04 #137

Having downloaded motionplus on Ubuntu 20.04, I was unable to install it.
I have had motion running on the PC for quite some time without issues.
The installer responded with:-

I tried to manually install the libraries (e.g. for libavcodec59 and was advised there is no installation candidate for the library) without success, and checked the ffmpeg version (4.2.7).

I read on the internet about this, and could not find a solution.

The only reason for changing to motionplus was to obtain audio support, as I recently had an issue where having the audio would have been really beneficial.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Also tried installing on 22.04 without success, and installing 1.0 on Ubuntu 20.04 with the same issues.
Any help would be appreciated.

You need to install the packages indicated either manually or by virtue of using gdebi instead of dpkg.

Many thanks for the advice.
On Ubuntu 20.04, both motionplus 0.2 and 0.1.1 failed to install using gdebi due to "libc6 <=2.34" whereas on Ubuntu 20.04 it is 2.31.
I then tried on 22.04 (which I would rather avoid, as the intended computer is stable on 20.04) - it wouldn't install using gdebi due to "libavcodec59 (>=7:5.0)" whereas (from memory) on both 20.04 and 22.04 libavcodec is libavcodec58.
I also read one shouldn't try to update individual libraries, as it can break far more!
Any help would be most appreciated!

Are you able to advise how to install motionplus on Ubuntu 20.04 or 22.04, as currently, my systems are up to date, but motionplus won't install on either version of Ubuntu?
The only reason for looking at motionplus is to obtain audio support which motion lacks, as I recently had an incident where the audio support would have been really useful.

Thank you for the help, but it didn't work on Ubuntu 22.04.
Has anyone had success with it on 20.04 (ideally) or 22.04?

I believe you just need to run the make with sudo. Notice the permission error above about not being able to create the file in /usr/local/bin...

Many thanks for the help.
I tried from scratch, and found that after the initial wget the buildplus.sh needed the following command:-
chmod +x buildplus.sh
and then I could run ./buildplus.sh.
(which I had done before), and then on Ubuntu 22.04, I may have needed to run the sudo apt install ... and in the directory there was a .deb file that I was able to install using gdebi.
When running motionplus, I think I need to have a minimal config file set up to be able to run motionplus - as even the -s switch moaned about no config file.
So, emboldened, I tried to repeat my progress on Ubuntu 20.04, but ...
I ran the buildplus.sh script and got:-

I tried the different ways I am aware of to fix broken packages without any improvements :-(

Is there any help? I presume that version 1,.0 or 1.1 would have been compiled to work on Ubuntu 20.04, if so, should I try again with a different version?
Alternatively, might it be possible add the audio support to motion, which I know works?
