OpenBadges #30
Comments
@jbelien are you referring to https://openbadges.org ? That could be a cool project, we could always figure out a way to match open badges with existing badges in the system. |
@kamicut : I think it's a really nice project and your badges from the user profile could be a really nice use case for OpenBadges. |
Not forgetting of course, that when users gain badges they can then collect them into their own 'backpack', and even share their badge on LinkedIn etc. Orgs like IBM, AWS, Nominet Trust, BBC, Bite the Ballot, etc. already do this. MM would be a great addition to https://www.badgetheworld.org/ Note that there are user through Africa, for example, whom are calling out for badges from NGO activity http://www.badgetheworld.org/?pledge=1052 @Jorieke will be teaming up with MM in London soon. This OpenBadge integration has been a topic of much discussion. I've been a badge advocate since 2014 so can absolutely see why you feel this project is a match. |
Let's bring @dalekunce into the conversation. |
And I'll also add here that ..
HOT itself does use OpenBadges for our badges.
For example: https://backpack.openbadges.org/share/
3ac1f09c885fe0cf26af953c20971e4d/
Also, all the courses on courses.hotosm.org issue OpenBadges (moodle is
HOT's own openbadges issuing authority software).
Along Blake, still in the testing phase.

conversation.

Any following on this topic ? :) |
@jbelien thanks for filing this issue. At this time I do not think we are going to migrate to open badges or likely to support them from within the missing maps framework. There is simply to much we would have to change on our side to make it feasible. If someone were to suggest a Pull Request that supported OpenBadges we would of course review it. |
Hi guys,
I just attended to OpenBelgium2017 and there was a workshop about OpenBadges.
As member of OpenStreetMap Belgium and a web developer, I have this "crazy" idea to create OpenBadges for OSM/Missing Maps related "stuff" :
I talked about it with @Jorieke (you probably know her :D) and she reminded me about your dashboard/user page and your badges.
I could be wrong but I do not think you use OpenBadges for the moment.
I think it could be really nice to "migrate" your badges to OpenBadges.
Is it something you would be interested in ?
Thanks.
