Potentially something like you feed a serial port a number of values and then the dispaly link interprets them either as code page 437 or raw values in hex (if possible a way to switch between them?).
Could be useful for interacting with a terminal using a create mod display board rather than having to smash your face into a terminal module to see what you're typing. It would also remove the necessity to use computer craft as an intermediary.

Come to think of it, this is what the Serial Port Module is for. The serial port is fully configurable, so maybe it could be where putting a Display Link on a Serial Port Module makes it act like a terminal. Literally the same way! The only problem would be the refresh speed.
