I think many would be grateful if the gamma correction feature could be enabled. This would be especially useful for those of us who play on CRT monitors, as many of these monitors interpret contrast in different ways, which is also affected by tube wear. On the other hand, for some reason it seems to me that many N64 games were designed with duller colours than normal (Doom64 being the most memorable example in this area).

I noticed that on psx core, gamma correction is indeed enabled, but it stops working when the 480p hack is enabled.
