Information on where to place MAP files should be easy to find in the documentation #70
Comments
Maybe we need an "Anatomy of a MapServer Application" document where we could describe a recommended deployment architecture. I've always done that as part of any workshops on MapServer. Steve |
That is a good idea! It will have to be visible and occur "early" in the documentation. Some good index entries could also help. |
What’s the best way to prototype a webpage on a topic like this? Would be nice to build something and then give time for review. |
If you have some material, it should be OK to add it somewhere in the introduction and then fix it incrementally. This issue can be used for feedback / input. |
You could prototype it using the github pages (http://pages.github.com/) |
There was a recent post on mapserver-users about security issues when having map files readable by the web server. I tried to find a good place to refer to in the documentation when answering, but it was not easy to find. I suggest that information about how to set up map files and data sources for Mapserver is included in the introduction.
