Some issues:

Empty boxes (no projects at certain stages) takes up page space and requires more scrolling.
When you finish a step such as deciding whether to accept a project, you hit an intermediate landing page telling you success. Then you have to click again to go to next section (eg. copyedit). Extra click may be annoying.
When you edit/copyedit a project, the big project info card dominates the view.

Possible solutions:

Collapse card elements that take up too much space by default.
