How to list the files loaded by lua ls ?

lua-ls was loading tons of files (100000? not sure what are those, probably neovim plugins) everytime I would start my editor (neovim). This makes my CPU goes VROOM and battery goes down.

I've tried several configurations to limit the impact

but now I am faced with a popup

which I am not sure how to disable.

I am curious what are the files lua-ls is looking at but I have trouble finding those (without starting strace). I used:

How can I track what files lua-ls is spending so much time to load (for isntance the [71.386]sec in my previous log) ?

I cannot solve your problem, but I give you another option, see #3017
The new language server will use less memory (only less than 10%) and be faster.

I'm unfamiliar with neovim (I use vscode)
but recently I assisted a neovim user solving a mysterious load too much files issue: #2975 (comment)

Somehow a recent update of nvim-lspconfig broke the single file mode when initializing the lsp client.
If you're using nvim-lspconfig to setup language servers, you will need to:

• firstly update to neovim preview (0.11)
• migrate from nvim-lspconfig to use vim.lsp.config instead
• more details can be found inside the linked issue comment

If that's not the case, then further details are required:

• what file path are you trying to open with nvim?
  • a file at home directory or what?
  • have you tried to open other lua files, say in an almost empty folder, and does this issue persist?
• would it be that there is a directory symlink in the same directory containing your file?
  like in this issue: Server seems to be scanning more files than I would expect #2849 (comment)
• what is the rootUri that's sending to luals?
  your can find it in that log file, as described here: https://luals.github.io/wiki/faq/#why-is-the-server-scanning-the-wrong-folder

I believe there must be something wrong in your nvim/lsp settings, such that it's sending a wrong rootUri to luals, and causing luals to scan all subfolders under that wrong rootUri 😕 .
And if you are running the single file mode, your editor/lsp plugin should send rootUri = nil to the language server
=> in this case luals will not perform the scan all operation (as it is not running in workspace mode)
