  • MAP docs
  • map is described as global mean average precision and I had to read source code to interpret this
  • I interpret this as equivalent to mAP50-95 in the Ultralytics framework (which I am intercomparing against) - averaged across all classes
  • Suggestion: expanding the description to include these 2 details, e.g. global mean average precision, equivalent to mAP50-95 averaged over all classes

An additional enhancement would be clarifying what the sizes small/medium/large are - I understand the following

  • Small Objects: Area less than 32² pixels (i.e., area < 1024 pixels²).
  • Medium Objects: Area between 32² and 96² pixels (i.e., 1024 ≤ area < 9216 pixels²).
  • Large Objects: Area greater than 96² pixels (i.e., area ≥ 9216 pixels²).
