Crash when trying to import ecoinvent database #1135
-
Hi, I recently updated the AB on my computer by creating a new environment and installing the AB as new two days ago. I am now trying to import ecoinvent 3,9,1 in one project. I created a new project and imported biosphere flows. I am now trying to import ecoinvent 3,9,1. I tried several ways:
Did somebody experience the same issue? How could I try to resolve it? Thank you in advance for your help, |

Hi Adeline, I'm sorry to hear that you're having problems importing ecoinvent. Because the crash happens at different stages, the first thing that comes to my mind is a memory problem. Extracting the database uses a lot of memory, which may cause the sudden, no warning, crash if there is none left to use. Could you try again, while keeping an eye on the Windows Task Manager performance tab (assuming you're using Windows). I'm interested to see if you're hitting a 100% on your memory. Kind regards, Marin |

Hi Marin, Thank you for coming back to me. Yes, I am using Windows 10. I tried two imports while looking at the memory performance:
I also tried several times to restart my computer and to try importing while having only the AB open on my computer but it crashed as well. I also tried to be offline with only the AB running but the problem remained the same. Best regards, |

Yes, I am able to create files and folders. I have been working with the AB and brightway before and it worked in the past. I downloaded the newest version of AB to be able to work with ecoinvent 3.9.1. |

Could you please create a new environment with the following command?
This will create a new environment (don't worry, your data is safe, it only installs another version of AB). And could you then try again to install the ecoinvent version and let us know if that works? I really hope that works as a short-term solution while we try to resolve this properly. |

Could you please create a new environment with the following command?
conda create -n ab28 -c conda-forge activity-browser=2.8.0
This will create a new environment (don't worry, your data is safe, it only installs another version of AB).
And could you then try again to install the ecoinvent version and let us know if that works?
I really hope that works as a short-term solution while we try to resolve this properly.
