Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
#376 => Going the way of the user being able to define the individual metrics he wants and segment into periods for all kind of metrics meant that we lost some performance on the metrics pipeline.

Describe the solution you'd like
We should measure the performance hit and explore ways of mitigating it (especially if substantial)

We have been putting this back, but the performance hit seems quite low (or not really troublesome when running the extraction)
