This should have a

header [possibly empty]
control panel group [possibly empty]
main panel
results panel group [possibly empty]
footer [possibly empty]

The layout should make use of the reusable panels and panel groups as much as possible.

This is mostly done by #226. All that remains is having a results panel group on the right.
