Meet the Team

Kirstie Whitaker

The lead developer for the STEMM Role Models app is Kirstie Whitaker. She's a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Cambridge studying brain development during adolescence. Kirstie is the secretary of the University of Cambridge Women's Staff Network and a passionate advocate for the promotion of women and underrepresented minorities in STEMM fields. She coaches for Codebar in Cambridge and co-organises the Cambridge Women and Technology meetup group. She's excited to extend her coding skills to mobile app development and to empower women in all areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Medicine.

Amy Orsborn

Amy Orsborn is a postdoctoral researcher at New York University. She uses engineering techniques to investigate the central nervous system and develops tools to study neural signals at different spatial scales. She is a talented illustrator and has used her skills to communicate a plethora of scientific findings.

Erin Rich

Erin Rich is an assistant project scientist at the University of California at Berkeley. She studies the functional organisation of prefrontal cortex and was inspired to join the team after experiencing the difficulties associated with finding enough women to ensure a 50/50 male/female representation whem co-organising a recent symposium.

Elizabeth Minor

Elizabeth Minor is a the development associate at the Phoebe A. Hearst Museum of Anthropology in Berkeley, California, and brings to the team her expertise in beta testing and user experience design for apps and online databases for public audiences. She is particuarly passionate about incorporating online media into her teaching and museum exhibitions and can often be found sharing her experiences at archaological sites in Sudan from behind the lens.
