For example, instead of writing Amercia/New York it would say EST.

There are some difficult obstacles to consider for a change like this:

  1. Some abbreviations could refer to multiple different time zones.
    • For example, CST could refer to China Standard Time or Central Stardard Time.
  2. Abbreviations change throughout the year.
    • For example, users in EST turn to EDT during daylight savings.
  3. Not every time zone has an abbreviation.

Currently I am not looking to implement this since it could become overcomplicated, however if enough people are interested I may look more into it. I'll leave this thread open for discussion.
