Error when call sin in CUDA kernel after updating CUDA.jl to 5.5.2 #2515

Describe the bug

As the title says, I get an error when I call sin function after updating CUDA.jl. It worked fine in the previous version.
I tried some case and is seems that this error probably occurs only when all of the following conditions are met.

  • Check-bounds=yes
  • Project includes both MPI and CUDA.
  • CUDA uses local runtime

To reproduce

The Minimal Working Example (MWE) for this bug:

The bug template asks for quite some more information, such as the output of CUDA.versioninfo(). At the very least, you should include the actual error and back-trace, because such a simple kernel is obviously expected to work (and covered by CI, so does work in general).

Ah sorry, I had edited your post to fix one syntax issue but hadn't spotted the content at the bottom.

Can you try without a local installation? I'd guess that something is off with the libdevice that's being linked here, which should provide a definition of __nv_sin.

OK, so at least you have a workaround.


The issue doesn't seem to be with the device library; using yours on my system works just fine.

Could you do @device_code dir="..." @cuda ... in both cases (once using the local toolkit, once using artifacts, but both cases using the --check-bounds setting that is required to reproduce the issue with the local toolkit) and zip + upload the results here?
