<l>My letter also was written very hastily. We have been very</l>
<l>subject to air raids. Five bombers almost crashed into this house,</l>
<l>They just missed; but I find it <choice>

</choice> to concentrate; and</l>
<l>no doubt misinterpreted what you said. though I didnt mean to.</l>
<l>To be frank, I doubt if I've got your meaning in your last letter.</l>
<l>But I would like to understand your point of view and if possible</l>
<l>make clear my own; so I answer, in the hope <choice>

<l>and were content with that instead of trying to make <choice>

<l>mass understand and appreciate what you knew and saw"</l>

<l>Who is "you" in that passage? <del>Do you mean</del> I take it that you mean</l>
<l>me in the first place; and to that I reply, I never said anything</l>
<l>of the kind. I quoted Rogers saying; I also quoted his saying,</l>
<l>Am I responsible for all that Roger said Then I am also responsible</l>
<l>for his saying, More and more [I] dread <choice>
<sic>impirsonment</sic>
<corr>imprisonment</corr>
</choice> <del hand="typewriter">in the</del></l>
<l>the imprisonment of <choice>

<l>You will complain very justly that this brittle and</l>
