I propose adding a feature to CTFNote that would allow managers and administrators to pin past CTF events to the top of the user interface. This functionality is intended to help teams access important or frequently referenced CTF events more efficiently, without the need to scroll through or search for them each time.

Use Case:
Pinning would be particularly useful for:

  • Highlighting events that serve as templates, standards for the team or open-platform writeups like hackthebox, tryhackme, picoctf.
  • Maintaining easy access to important past events, which helps in planning strategies for current or future CTF challenges.

Suggested Implementation:

  • Grant pinning privileges exclusively to users with manager or administrator roles.
  • Pinned events should be visible to all team members, ensuring everyone benefits from the enhanced accessibility.
  • Include interface options such as a pin icon or a right-click context menu to pin/unpin events.
  • Optionally, display pinned events in a dedicated section at the top of the event list or in a separate tab for immediate access.

This feature would streamline team workflows, save time, and enhance the overall efficiency and effectiveness of accessing critical historical data in CTFNote.

@twanterstappen, remembering the name of the CTF and searching it through ctrl+k is not sufficient for your workflow? Also, what do you mean with 'the top of the user interface'? The navigation bar?

@JJ-8, Thanks on your comment. However, our team uses CTFNote not just for competitions but also for organizing templates and write-ups from various events and platforms. This is why a quicker access method would significantly enhance our workflow and could be convenient for the users.

I'm specifically referring to the "past events" section on the history screen, see screenshot for reference: Screenshot 2024-04-26 024952

It would be highly beneficial for us to have critical events like templates or popular write-ups either pinned at the top of this screen or available under a separate tab named "Pinned Events." This feature would allow team members to quickly navigate and access these important events without searching each time.
