Data Loss or Corruption when Decompressing on full Disk Drive?

What happens when your disk space is Full and you decompress files? Will this result in data corruption?

You wont be able to change the file back until you make more room.

Will CompactGui show some error? Where would I be able to look for the specific error if I attempt to decompress on a full drive? Or will the process simply hang and fail?

I imagine windows itself would stop you Ive never come across this so i cant say for sure but there are probably safelocks in place to keep you from butchering your own data but yes compactGUI would fail and no data would be lost because the original file stays compacted until it is successfully unpacked or moved to a diff drive.
