If a RapidPro category name is longer than about 115 characters it causes problems in the flow it belongs to - see issue #93. The solution to issue #93 is to check the length of category names and stop processing with an error if the threshold of 115 characters is exceeded.
It is left to the flow template author or the content author to make sure that category names are not too long. This is inconvenient because it means every author should be made aware of this limitation and take steps to avoid it.
As the limitation is an implementation detail of RapidPro - which may vary between versions - it would be better to let the toolkit decide whether a category name needs to truncated, while logging a warning that such an action has been taken. This would alleviate the burden of considering this detail of RapidPro from content authors.
