Configuring the search

Hi, I'm trying to configure the search with google search because i can't search for exact phrases and the results are not optimal, how should i do it in academic?
In academic there are two search boxes and i would like to use one for searches within a category and another for site-wide searches, is there a way I can search by category? Why can't a search for an exact phrase be performed? Can I have something wrong configured?
Any ideas are welcome. Thanks in advance.
