Guidlify - Open source event hub

We want to bump the event place for open source organizations

Features 📜

• Can create unique organization username (can share URL: webxguild.io/gdsc-india
  • Unique username for members
  • Organizers or attendees automatically record past events and upcoming event
  • Their event can share to Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter (ex. once click the socials icon)
  • Able to create event and share link (e.g. webxguild.io/gdsc-india/geekmeet2023)
  • Generate QR code for upcoming events
• Notification of the event (subscribe to this org. to notify for upcoming event in their email).
• Show remote or in-person event label
• Add label tag if need sponsor. The sponsors can click apply as sponsor and fill up the form.
• Comment section for the event or participants can give feedback after the event (use https://giscus.app/)
• Show worldwide map of no. of organizations

📋I can't share the other features yet, but I think the above-mentioned features are the ones we should focus on in the first phase of development.

Problems 😫

Problems that we want to solve

• We are using different platform to setup our event page, I want this project to be the number 1 worldwide main platform use by open source developers who are creating event for their organization.
• As organizer, it’s hard to find free platform for setting up the org. with customizable event page
• finding sponsors for the event is hard so we will try to onboard sponsors folks as well
• Hard to find attendees (need to go out just to find them)
• Those platform we currently have are general, not specific for what event organizers need!

Ahhh this is it! 👀 I'm excited to see the WebXGuild aiming high to bang the opensource event space for orgs! Proposed features look promising. I would like to express my support and give few ideas for considerations:

• Seamlessly integration:

  1. Integration with popular collaboration and project platforms, like Github GitLab and Discord. Because many already use these platforms.
  2. Integration with event ticket system: I'm thinking about EventBrite or OpenCollective.

• Communication:

  1. Collaboration tools: Features like real-time chat could improve the communication sharing among event participants. Take not that can be handle in 1. using Discord Bot's or others existing messaging way..
  2. Mentorship and networking opportunities: I know that i'm nobody to speak about mentorship, but mentorship programs could be a great addition to this project. This help community engagment.

Why not have authentication and ui? Having it be for green squares makes it quite a bit messy

Talking about Giscus, it means we still rely on GitHub as the foundation. If you really don't want to go around using multiple platforms and we want something that seems "auto-pilot" like what I did. Maybe we have to explore a lot of the features of GitHub to be able to feel more deeply what we mean by GitHub from the hobbies we do.

Staying on GitHub means saving queries from all activity on GitHub and that is useful for a publication, whatever happens on GitHub (repository: issues, discussions, etc.) will be recorded by the Internet and make it easier to find.

We can remove 1 green square 🟩 if you join their event since users can spam it, but I think those 2 left are acceptable. The idea is we can onboard them here and teach them how to contribute in open source. I don't want everything to be on authentication and ui in early stage.

Here are some additional ideas that you could consider:

1. Event analytics: Consider adding metrics like the number of attendees, engagement rate, etc that can help understand the effectiveness of the events.
2. Multi-language support: To make it accessible to a broader range of users globally.
3. Integration with calendars like Google Calendar: so that attendees can easily add the event to their personal calendars. It would also help in scheduling and notifications.

The org./guild can set up their future event and sponsorship goal. For example, the future event may be estimated at $2000 or 1.0351084 ETH to host their future event, including details of where they will use the money (e.g., food, drinks, venue, etc.).

There can be other simple yet effective features to attract more sponsors:

Once they choose a higher sponsorship tier, they will be featured in a dedicated section of the webpage (lifetime), complete with their own page and unique branding.

Instead of making it overly complex to use, we can provide an built-in demo flow that users can skip if they are already familiar with the platform.

Additionally, we can explore other options based on various factors, such as filtering events by location or topic.
