Process

We were unable to do the user testing in person due to unforeseen circumstances. Instead, I wrote an email to Max to send to some potential users with some prompts for some feedback. The questions are listed below along with all of the feedback from the 3 users.

Would love to go through some of this together in a call to decide on the most important parts to focus on. Maybe we can take some time to brainstorm this separately and then chat/create some issues/stories about these?

User Feedback

  1. Have a general explore of the app. What did you like? What didn't you like? What might need to be changed?
  • User 1
    • I like the interface, and design. It appears clean and easy to use. Nice logo.
  • User 2
    • Good, clean and modern looking UI. Nice colour
    • Name and Logo and very in tune with the aim of the app
    • Main pages are easy to navigate to from menu
    • Search page - Can’t clear a selection, only select an alternative
    • Types of Therapy – Description duplicated for all
    • On the Glossary page, once it’s fully populated, looking for a term that begins with anything other than the first few letters of the alphabet, would mean a lot of scrolling. A search box or letter index might help
  • User 3
    • Really like the concept of working out what type of therapy is required/ suggested. Thought the questionnaire was very helpful.
    • Bit monotone in terms of colour and not many visuals. Think there could be more colours and pictures or info graphics.
    • Is the intention that this app can be used anywhere in the world or specifically the UK? Maybe make this clearer on the front page.

  1. Let's assume that you would like to begin therapy but don't know where to start. Please click on the 'Find the right therapy for you' button and complete the questionnaire. Was the process clear? Did you understand the questions/questionnaire? Did you understand the results page? (Please note that the results page is still a work in progess) Where would you go from here?
  • User 1
    • I found it clear and think the questions were clear too.
    • Results page – I liked the breakdown in percentages and the recommendation
    • According to your answers, we would suggest that you search for therapists specializing in: C
    • Unfortunately there are no results
    • I guess in future it would be good to see a list of those therapists that specialise in C, maybe include some filters or sorts in the results. E.g. give me the option to sort by location, cost and how closely the therapist meets my requirements.
    • Difficult to say where I would go from here as I don’t get any results yet. But assuming I did get a list of therapists I would make a selection and proceed to book.
  • User 2
    • Clear process and questions were easy to understand
    • Didn’t understand what the results (numbers) under Therapy Type
    • For “According to your answers, we would suggest that you search for therapists specializing in: C”. I’d prefer a recommendation as opposed to suggestion to search, I already kind of searched by answering 11 questions
    • “Specializing in C” made me have to look back at Therapy types to find out what the “C” stood for
      • Maybe “According to your answers, we would recommend a therapist specializing in: Counselling”
  • User 3
    • Process was clear
    • Understood the questionnaire
    • Understood the results page, although when you fill out the questionnaire for working out what type of therapy is suggested, it may be useful to signpost more clearly how the ‘Types of Therapy’ page can be reached.
    • From here, would go to the Types of Therapy page in order to better understand the types of therapy, particularly the one being suggested.
    • Under question 3 of this section there is a spelling mistake (‘AMy’).
    • Under question 4, would change the wording of the first question.
    • Under the therapy type page of the questionnaire, The ‘I’ at the beginning of Integrative Therapy is missing.

  1. Let's assume that you are a therapist interested in getting involved. Starting on the front page, where would you go? Was the process clear? Was the form clear?
  • User 1
    • Yes process clear. Form clear too.
    • Nice to have suggestion – copy a previous days hours makes it easy to add. Maybe use a 24 hr clock as it’s easy to make mistakes with am and pm.
    • I tried to sign up but got a validation error. It may be me but I couldn’t see where the validation error was.
  • User 2
    • The process and form were clear
    • For City, all that is shown is a map, which is good, but a search field would make it easier to narrow it down to my post code, for example
    • Not sure what is meant by ‘Approach’, which is also misspelt “Approch”
    • The Home page is the only place where I can sign up.
    • It currently reads “Are you therapist? Sign Up”
  • User 3
    • Would go to the bottom of the home page. Text on front page, at bottom of page, says ‘Are you therapist?’. Should this be, ‘Are you a therapist’?
    • There is a table with the days of the week and times, it is not very clear what information is being asked for.
    • Overall, yes the form was clear. Where people are asked to list the languages spoken the drop down says ‘ select your country’. Is there a link to the ‘Terms of Service’? It wasn’t clear on the sign up page where these terms can be found.
    • Approach section of form spelt ‘approch’.

  1. Is it clear where you can find the 'Types of therapy' page?
  • User 1
    • YES
  • User 2
    • Yes but as mentioned above, the description is duplicated for all Therapy Types
  • User 3
    • Yes, Currently all the therapy descriptions on the ‘Types of Therapy’ page are the same i.e the description for Psychodynamic Psycotherapy.

  1. Would you use this web app? Do you know people that would?
  • User 1
    • If I was looking for a therapist then I would. I think I know people that would use it. Do therapists have to pay to advertise their services?
  • User 2
    • If I had the need to, I probably would. I don’t personally know anyone who would use it

  1. Is there anything else that you would like to comment on?
  • User 1
    • I think the questionnaire is better integrated now compared to the first time I saw the app.
  • User 2
    • No
  • User 3
    • Under the Glossary page some of the terms appear to be incomplete i.e. the heading above the description of Humanistic Therapy just says ‘Humanisti’.
    • In the main menu, questionnaire is spelt ‘Questionarie’.
    • Under the search function, what does ‘isRemote’ mean? Is this online?
    • Not sure if this is already part of the App, but is there an option where you can include a map that shows people where the suggested therapists are located in location to their address?
    • Think the whole website needs to be reviewed/ edited thoroughly, there are a number of spelling mistakes, etc.
    • Think you need to make it a bit clearer for both therapists and patients what information they provide will be visible to other people and how their information will be used, i.e GDPR.
