Releases: GSConnect/gnome-shell-extension-gsconnect
v2
(Even though I think I'm the only person using it) v2 is now available for download. There is still work to be done, but it seems quite stable and ready for regular use. Please see the FAQ in the Wiki before opening a new issue.
New since v1:
- Totally revamped SMS Application, with avatars and randomly assigned colors (more stuff to come)
- Contact photos in Telephony notifications
- Block duplicate SMS notifications
- User is notified if a plugin fails to enable in the preferences
- Various small fixes
Reminder:
- By default devices appear in the User Menu, not the panel.
- This has only been tested on Gnome 3.24, but will should work on 3.26. Older versions may work, but are not officially supported.
- Newly added devices begin with no plugins enabled

v1
This is the first release of a fairly ambitious extension, set your expectations accordingly. There is much work to be done, but it is generally stable and ready for regular use. Please see the FAQ in the Wiki before opening a new issue.
Things to note:
- By default devices appear in the User Menu, not the panel.
- This has only been tested on Gnome 3.24, but will should work on 3.26. Older version are not supported.
- Newly added devices begin with no plugins enabled
- Some plugin code depends on "Best Case Scenario" conditions
- Some more advanced plugin functionality is not yet implemented
- If a plugin fails to load, there is no user feedback other than the plugin refusing to enable
- This is big for an extension, some things have probably just been forgotten
What's (notably) new since beta3:
- The extension cleans up after itself if uninstalled (except configuration)
- Pause music on incoming or in progress phone calls
- Much better discovery of new devices
- Rudimentary coloured message bubbles in the SMS App
- Use GNotification instead of libnotify
For changes since last pre-release, see here
v1-beta3
This is a beta release. Expect a few non-critical bugs, some missing functionality and some unpolished UI elements.
What's here:
- The extension now cleans up after itself automatically, and clean installs seem to be flawless
- The extension now detects if the running daemon is old and restarts it, cleanly
- Current translation strings are finished, although new ones will be added later on.
What's next:
- Make sure the daemon is stopped on uninstall
- Hopefully, a move to GNotification from libnotify (we'll at least know)
- A pause-mute audio/music option when incoming call detected
- Polish, shine and v1 :)
What's coming eventually:
- Support for cool outgoing stuff (laptop battery reporting, etc) (maybe not by v1)
- Support for cool incoming stuff (Mirroring remote MPRIS players locally, etc) (maybe not by v1)
- Being able to run KDE Connect when the extension is enabled (although, why?)
For changes since last pre-release, see here
v1-beta2
This is a beta release. Expect a few non-critical bugs, some missing functionality and some unpolished UI elements.
What's here:
- There are no translations (of course), but translatable strings are about 95% there. There are quite a few more that the mconnect extension, and input would be welcome on this matter.
- The UI is about done, although some things might move around, no new elements are likely to be added before v1
- There is a short help blurb on the "Devices" page of the preferences when first opened, which directs users to the Wiki (not done) and that's probably all that will be in the extension as far as instructions go.
- All device management (pairing/unpairing, adding/removing, plugin configuration, keyboard shortcuts, etc) can be done in the Preferences dialog
What's next:
- The extension currently leaves a few files (2) lying around if uninstalled, that should be fixed
- Some way to detect an older daemon version and autorestart (also stopping the daemon without killing it)
- Current translation strings should be finished, although new ones will likely be added later on.
What's coming eventually:
- Hopefully, a move to GNotification from libnotify (maybe not by v1)
- A pause-mute plugin (optional) for incoming calls (probably by v1)
- Support for cool outgoing stuff (laptop battery reporting, etc) (maybe not by v1)
- Support for cool incoming stuff (Mirroring remote MPRIS players locally, etc) (maybe not by v1)
- Being able to run KDE Connect when the extension is enabled (although, why?)

v1-beta1
This is a beta release. Expect a few non-critical bugs, some missing functionality and some unpolished UI elements. There are no translations and sparse instructions.
Things to note:
- KDE Connect should not be running when the extension is enabled, however, there is now a "Restart" button in the "Service" page of the extension preferences that can be used after you kill the
kdeconnectd
process. - This has only been tested on Gnome 3.24, but will likely work on 3.26. No support for older versions is planned.
- By default devices appear in the User Menu, not the panel.
