The dashboard that we currently have for all of our send jobs doesn't explain that the page auto-updates at a set interval, so it's not clear to users that they can stay on the page and they'll see updated information as messages are processed (especially for a large batch job):

We should update the display a bit to explain a little more of what is happening and what users can expect using plain language.

Implementation Sketch and Acceptance Criteria

  • Work with the team to figure out some appropriate updates to the job dashboard view that use plain language and/or clear visuals to inform users what to expect and how the page works
  • add animation to send button and make sure all send and cancel buttons on page are disable prior to commencing/creating the auto-refresh
  • Write copy for describing auto-refresh on dashboard and message activity pages
  • Review copy with appropriate team members
  • Create a mockup of the changes and user test it within our team and our partners to make sure the changes make sense and are an improvement
  • Implement the change(s) in the job dashboard templates
  • Adjust any test as necessary

Security Considerations

  • N/A with this change; this is providing clearer instructions on the display of a page that requires user access to the system.

there is a ticket related to this one (pending vs. sending status). with that conversation in-progress, i'd like to considered bringing this into next week's workload (week of 5/5). @ccostino could that work?

MMW statements: how might we help users understand an auto-update will occur? how might we visualize this update interval?

Thanks, @dmvancura, and yes, we can bring this in next week to discuss!

"this message activity page auto updates to reflect the message send activity"
"this page auto updates. check back for final delivery details"
"message activity refreshes automatically"
^^ wordsmithing to find a simple explanation to add to message activity page that says what's happening behind the scenes for auto-update ^^

this is from discussion between content strategy and ux dev on 5/6/25
