Trouble compiling xmail with g++

I am on git revision eda9958ea and have trouble compiling xmail (yes, still using it in 2023). The main error is ccache: error: Could not find compiler "mips-linux-uclibc-g++-wrapper" in PATH (see more details below). A ccache -clean did not help. Even a make distclean resulted in the same error.

You could disable ccache in menuconfig

What system do you use? ccache should work on most systems. You could test if you can compile things beside freetz with installed ccache.

Shortly ccache was disabled in freetz when WSL (Windows Subsystem for Linux) is detected:

• WSL + ccache #835
• efd3c64 ccache does not work with wsl

I am using Raspberry Pi OS Buster. After another make toolchain-distclean, enabling ccache and deleting the xmail subdirectory in sources, the g++ compiler worked fine, i.e. I could not reproduce the problem.

A quick internet search for ccache + raspberrypi os problems didnt show usefull results. I've never tested with a 32bit arm.
But i can say ccache works for me with ubuntu 20 + aarch64:
