Issue with ordering from JLCPCB #2
Comments
Looks like it selected the wrong package for some reason for the resistor (currently just a visual indicator and not actually implemented in the firmware). You can use C17168 for the 0402 0R resistor. I'll fix the bom files with the proper part numbers at some point |
Out of curiosity, how did you find out about this project? |
I was looking for a cheap RDF tracker, there was a thread in the r/rocketry subreddit linking this github. Thanks for the help! |
Just keeping this open as a reminder to fix the BOM stuff |
I attempted to order the 440MHz beacon from JLCPCB, but due to the component 'R2' I am unable to select Economic PCB Assembly, apparently due to the small footprint size of the component. Changing to Standard PCB Assembly ends up adding $50 to the order. The component has a resistance of zero ohms, and it says in the schematic that its only used for telling the firmware whether the beacon is 220MHz/440MHz. Therefore, I plan on removing the resistor from the order, and just bridging the 440MHz pads with solder. I just wanted to confirm whether or not it is safe to do this.

In addition, there are 5 components that JLCPCB is unable to find a part for. I assume that the whip antenna, tooling holes, and DNP resistor are not meant to actually populate the PCB, but I wasn't sure if the small connection pad was also supposed to show up as missing.
