I have interest in this one (duh), but for those who are also interested--
I have some captive/wild data of amphibians.
Also, there is a collection of data from https://academic.oup.com/icb/article/57/4/690/4077014
that looks at the effect of captivity on the gut microbiome.
Questions that I'm thinking might be interesting:
PREDICTING CAPTIVE/WILD
How accurately can we predict whether something is captive or wild? (I expect it to be quite easy)
When an individual is diseased, how much does this decrease accuracy?
What host characters (age, sex, disease state, etc) most obscure effects of captivity on the host microbiome?
PREDICTING DISEASE
What are signatures of disease in microbiome traits?
Can you predict the likelihood of becoming diseased from your microbiome?
Predicting host states using microbial traits
