Was able to get Slack welcome bot working in a provisioned Slack sandbox workspace, but lacking permissions to run the Slack app in the cms Slack (says it requires admin permissions)

• Already built into slack haha, talk to Remy about permissions

7/22:

• built into slack! Need an administrator to install the application. Got it working on a new workspace.
• Export/save the config, ping the slack channel #cms-slack-help, ask for an admin to help with the install. If we can get that far, then we configure it.
• What slack bot does: Send messages in the channel when someone new joins.
• ACTION: Draft the welcome message in gdoc. @natalialuzuriaga @IsaacMilarky @decause-gov will review.

• Slack admin responded to thread!
• Sent us a form!
• We filled out the form, received and email that the ticket is being worked on
• ACTION: cc decause on this ticket, and follow up in 48 biz hours starting Monday if not resolved.

• Goal: Not super optimistic, but, if they enable the plugin, write a welcome message and add to slack settings.

@decause-gov @IsaacMilarky @natalialuzuriaga I wrote a long and short version of a welcome message for the Slack welcome bot in a Slack canvas that I shared in Slack. Let me know if you have any thoughts (e.g. whether I should go with the long version or short version)! Thanks!

• Ticket is being processed. It got bounced around a few times, just waiting for IT to get to it.

• DECISION: we like the long version. IDEA: Add the pinned canvas to the welcome message. IDEA: Add the :osscms: emoji into the mix ;)

This ticket will probably extend past my fellowship, but I saw Walta left a comment on the JIRA ticket (https://jira.cms.gov/browse/TOOLS-7258) about the possibility of not needing a new Slack app installed, otherwise the name of the person I've been trying to DM in Slack is Srinivas Kanagala
