Add-on version: 0.13.1
Firefox version: 127.0.2 (64-bit)
OS + OS-Version: Linux, Debian, XFCE4 desktop
Other tab + user interface related add-ons: New Tab Override

Hi,

I have to click the extension's button in the menu bar every time Firefox launches. Is this an issue with VTR or my Firefox config? The fix for this suggests removing or renaming the xulstore.json file, but this doesn't work for me.

Kind regards.

VTR has no direct control over the state (opened, closed) of the sidebar. State changes are either controlled by Firefox or by user-interaction.

Firefox saves the last updated sidebar state. So if you have multiple windows, but only have the sidebar open in some, Firefox will remember if your last interaction was closing or opening a sidebar anywhere. If the last action was closing, Firefox won't re-open the sidebar in any window after a restart.

Please let me know if you could resolve your problem, thanks!

Btw, what fix are you referring to here?

There's a file with that name in the Firefox profile directory that appears, to me anyway, to contain settings for the Firefox UI. Deleting the file returns a few very basic settings (last window dimensions etc) to default. The only answers I found for this and other similar problems were to delete that file while Firefox was closed.

Firefox was crashing on a regular basis. I tried disabling all but one extension at a time but the browser wouldn't crash then. I decided to remove Firefox, all config files and restart from scratch. At this point I found the original Vertical Tabs extension was discontinued some time ago.

Since my last post I found the original VT xpi file in my backups so removed VTR and installed it. The sidebar is present when Firefox is launched with that version. A discontinued and un-updated extension could be the reason for the crashes so I've put VTR back.

After closing Firefox with the sidebar open it's hidden on relaunching Firefox.

I certainly will.
