You can only play preview of selective songs, unless you have spotify premium. I know it sucks but you can explore the spotify web api and see how to play preview songs! Goodluck

You can try by adding following scopes while generating access token
["streaming", "user-read-email", "user-read-private"]

I was unable to play song with free spotify account, but when i upgraded to premium. I was able to play the songs, but on my actual spotify account. Let me elaborate :

When i pressed play button on my localhost ---> the same song gets played on my spotify app/actual spotify website.

I am unable to play the same song inside my browser (localhost). Any suggestions?
