With the inclusion of more higher ranks and most datasets still not providing the new ranks, we've been getting a lot of questions about why most of the Catalogue is "missing" or is in the Not assigned groups. Most people seem to be overlooking the Not assigned groups and keep asking why, for example, Coleoptera is so incomplete. We could improve handling of the Not assigned groups by:
Automatically expanding Not assigned groups so that they are not overlooked.
When clicking on Not assigned group links in both the ChecklistBank and portal, the user should get an explanation of what Not assigned means and why taxa fall under that group. Currently if the user clicks on a Not assigned group (the circled link below) in the Portal or ChecklistBank, they get a 404 error:
