Unable to launch external figure window with %plot native #187

I am using Octave 6.2. %plot natve throws the following error:

EOF: End Of File (EOF).
<pexpect.popen_spawn.PopenSpawn object at 0x0000018CE137B5F8>
searcher: searcher_re:
    0: re.compile('PEXPECT_PROMPT>')
    1: re.compile('PEXPECT_PROMPT_')
    2: re.compile('\\A.+?__stdin_prompt>|debug> ')
