Following the advanced installation instructions, after the command to update the environment with climada pethals requirement:
mamba env update -n climada_env -f requirements/env_climada.yml
the process is stuck on solving environment.

Climada Version: 5.0.1.dev0

System Information :

  • Operating system and version: Windows 10
  • Python version: 3.9.20

This happens from time to time. We haven't yet found out why. At the moment my best guess is that it is related to the mamba/conda installation. Some seem to perform better than others. However we are not in the position to give better installation instructions then the ones we give now, see #966.

I just created a new environment with Windows 10 and python 3.9 myself. It worked with being stuck for less than 2 minutes.
So, all I can suggest is this: try again, consider updating to python 3.11 unless you have a reason for sticking to python 3.9.
If it still fails, re-install mamba from scratch and try again.
Sorry that I cannot give you any better advice, and sorry for the trouble.
