add testing for vcs-js #31

Right now, we test vcs-js using a web page and links. This is error prone as one has to go through all links and look at images to make sure they are correct.

It would be nice to do these tests automatically.

Now that we have automated testing (which also runs on Travis as a part of PR process), what we need is more tests to be written. Leaving this open for now as a reminder.
