Here if the option to use a video file along with physical cam is added then:

• no need to wait anymore, watch swapped media in real-time
• no need to save the swapped files, save storage. LOL

I can achieve 30fps streaming so I agree this would be good!

The idea is simple:

• You don't wait for the whole video to first get processed and later find out, it wasn't worth.
• You save GPU, time, efforts and storage.

@sirdavidjcooper that's how I got the idea initially. It wasn't hard to add another function in the livecam_tab.py and use the existing logic and get a video file processed i real time.

Ah I see! That's something I always wanted to have for the preview control. A sort of player like Rope has it, where you can play a video with the swapped faces etc.
Unfortunately I'm using a web ui framework (gradio) which doesn't have a control to stream own content to a component. To make it at least partially work inside the live-cam tab, I'm feeding the single cam images to an image control. If you compare the speed to the one in OBS you can see that this is very, very slow because the control converts each image before displaying and even saves it into a temp folder. Every single image! That's why I never implemented this preview player.
I could however pick up your idea and stream it to OBS for near realtime swapping, wouldn't this be better located in the faceswap tab then?

Answering myself: yes, it's a pretty helpful option in the faceswap tab.

There's a dropdown control now where you can decide between outputting into a file or virtual camera or even both. I'm already done implementing it and it's really a nice feature (although my gpu isn't able to do realtime swapping). I think a new version with that feature will drop by tomorrow.

I did notice the undergoing work in an colab instace. So I remained quite and did not do much. Back then when I noticed it wasn’t working and i guess under progress and I will check this cool addition to the awesome app.

I don't want to overload but there are few other really awesome suggestions I have.

Once I prepare a draft will share.
