Hi,

Great app thank you.

I have a problem getting the assistant to work. I have a Samsung galaxy a40 which I tried different default assistant programs, including Alexa (preferred) and Google. I am connected over USB and bluetooth for sound (as the phone does not support sound over usb) the spotify works great but when I select alexa or Google in the menu it just creates a notification message on screen and that's it.
What am I missing ??
Thanks

Greg

In recent versions of Android, a background application can only trigger the assistant by creating a full-screen notification. If the screen is off, then the assistant trigger goes through, but if the screen is on then you must tap the notification to continue triggering the assistant.
So, it should work while the screen is off! When the screen is on and you see the notification pop up, what happens when you tap it? It should continue to trigger the notification when you tap it, is that not working? Google Assistant may need to be configured to allow Voice Search from Bluetooth, or to allow Assistant Response on Lock Screen, different versions have different settings.

Thanks for the reply. Nothing happens when I accept the notification, I would expect it to show a microphone and listen (via the phone microphone??). Same outcome if the phone screen is off locked or showing screen. There appears to be no option to allow voice search via bluetooth in Alexa, but there is within Google assistant (which I have enabled).

What happens if you press and hold the voice command button on your steering wheel? It should (if already configured) also enable the prefered voice assistant, can you it this way?

If not configured it will prompt which assistant you wanna use default, be sure accepting commands via bluetooth from other/third Party applications (e.g. in this case BMW) is allowed but also listening commands via bluetooth when screen is disabled/locked to be allowed

Hi.. thanks for the continued help, a long press on the steering wheel does nothing ( a short press does envoke the mini speech bubble). I'm beginning to think it's something to do with Galaxy A40 phone compatibility, it's not helping that sound is via Bluetooth whilst the rest of the communications are via usb-c.

Alright, if you have the integrated voice assistant it will of course use the BMW/Mini internal assistant, while a long press (1-2 seconds) is meant to trigger the phone's voice assistant from standard. But your compatibility might play a role.

Thank you LACNR and hufman - everything else works well - love the Spotify integration and my notifications also work well.
