introduce a variable which extends or compacts the resulting snippets (in frames I suppose).

50 will move the inpoint 50 frames earlier and the outpoint 50 frames later

-20 will move the inpoint 20 frames later and the outpoint 20 frames earlier

Is this variable supposed to determine the extension for every clip in the list of detected snippets or just for specific ones?

Every clip. It could be needed if for example a cross fade between the clips is desired.
