Block Color settings: allow to save custom colors #57026
Comments
Pinged Daria about the above and asked for further details. |
@Robertght suggested it is a bug - one thing can be a bug - that the colors from Customizer are not reflected in editor, I think this is a known one? Another thing is that if you use a custom color in the editor and then you want to use it in another block is it impossible to save, you have to copy paste the code, for example Screen.Capture.on.2021-10-18.at.18-15-35.mp4 |
Thank you for sharing further details! I'm not sure if this looks more like a Gutenberg core feature request. Pinging @jasmussen for a second look as I couldn't find an equivalent issue on the Gutenberg repo. |
Hi, thank you for the ping, thank you for the ticket! From looking at the first part of it, I definitely agree it'd be nice to be able to save colors like that. In fact the ability to do so is a key part of the "Global Styles" effort which is tracked here. There's a Figma file linked at that ticket which shows how you should be able to create, name, and customize new color swatches, so they show up everywhere you can pick a color. It does look like it won't be in the first version of the Global Styles panel, but it's definitely on the road map. Until that time, if you want to use a color that is not part of the palette, you have to copy it. But as a small tip, you can select multiple blocks at once (either click and drag to select, or press ⌘A twice to select all) and then apply a custom color across all blocks of the same type: Hope that helps. |
