I quickly looked into this (with the NETPortabilityAnalyzer). At the moment porting seems not that easy since this library has dependencies to System.Net.Mail and System.Net.Mime which are not yet available in .NET Core 1.1, but will be in a coming version:

So either wait or rewrite without this dependencies.
